Section 51 was formed as a result of the reorganization of Section 48, which covered all of Illinois with the exception of the counties surrounding the St. Louis area, on April 12, 2003. The member Chapters at the time were Eta, Gamma Sigma, Pi Eta, and Sigma Sigma. Since that time, Alpha Beta Omicron (Elmhurst Colllege), Upsilon Iota (DePaul University) and Sigma (Northwestern) have been recharted and Alpha Zeta Delta (Lake Forest College) was chartered.

CONFERENCE

Annual spring Section conferences are held jointly with Section 47 (western Illinois) and Section 50 (eastern Illinois). Past conferences have been held at:
