Section 51 was formed as a result of the reorganization of Section 48, which covered all of Illinois with the exception of the couties surrounding the St. Louis area, on April 12, 2003. The member Chapters at the time were Eta, Gamma Sigma, Pi Eta, and Sigma Sigma. Since that time, Alpha Beta Omicron (Elmhurst Colllege) and Upsilon Iota (DePaul University) have been recharted and Alpha Zeta Delta (Lake Forest College) was chartered.

CONFERENCE

Annual spring Section conferences are held jointly with Section 47 (western Illinois) and Section 50 (eastern Illinois). Past conferences have been held at:

2006 University of Illinois - Chicago (Sigma Sigma)
2007 Millikin University (Eta Epsilon)
2008 Illinois Wesleyan University (Omega Epsilon)

The next conference will be held at Illinois College and hosted by Eta Sigma Chapter
